March 05, 2018 (Washington, DC)

Murphy & McGonigle, a leading financial services and regulatory law firm, today announced that it has launched a website dedicated exclusively to the legal and regulatory developments in the application of blockchain technology. The comprehensive new site, Blockchain Law Center, is located at www.Blockchainlawcenter.com.

Blockchain Law Center features continually updated content on the latest developments in the blockchain space, including articles authored by Murphy & McGonigle lawyers, a blog on timely topics, a section on regulatory developments, a blockchain events calendar, and a resource center.

“We regularly work with financial services companies that have a stake in the legal and regulatory developments impacting blockchain technology,” said Matthew Comstock, a partner in the FinTech & Blockchain Practice at Murphy & McGonigle. “We created this site to provide the latest status of the law surrounding this exciting and evolving technology and, most importantly, the resulting implications for financial services companies.”

Featured content on Blockchain Law Center at its launch includes articles relating to the SEC’s recent investigation into ICOs and cryptocurrencies; a summary from the panel conducted recently by the SEC’s Division of Trading and Markets; and a look at the court challenge by a Brooklyn man to the SEC and DOJ theory that ICOs are subject to federal securities law, among others.

“We want the Murphy & McGonigle Blockchain Law Center to be a one-stop destination for financial services companies to learn the most recent developments and insights into the rapidly evolving and growing blockchain marketplace,” said Katherine Cooper, a partner in the FinTech & Blockchain Practice. “So much is happening in the regulatory landscape around blockchain. The site’s continually updated content will keep our clients and others in the financial services sector attuned to the newest developments in blockchain law.”
