Murphy & McGonigle Partner, Lionel André, was elected to the D.C. Bar Health Law Section Steering Committee. Mr. André will serve a three-year term on the Steering Committee, starting on July 1, 2017. "It is an honor for me to join the Steering Committee for the Health Law Section of the D.C. Bar," André said.
The Health Law Section is involved in a wide range of activities, including the sponsorship of educational programs for the benefit of health care attorneys and the health care community at large to help them better understand and comply with complex health laws and regulations, including the Affordable Care Act, the Anti-Kickback statute, False Claims Act, Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act, HIPAA, Medicaid, Medicare, and the Stark Act. Mr. André hopes to draw from his many years at the U.S. Attorney's Office as the lead prosecutor in some of the largest healthcare fraud cases in the District of Columbia, and his current practice of defending companies and their senior executives before regulatory agencies and the Department of Justice, to help the Steering Committee provide clear guidance to health law practitioners in navigating complex laws and regulations that affect their clients.
