Firm Chair Elizabeth Davis Honored by Washington Business Journal for ‘Women Who Mean Business’

October 08, 2021 (Washington, DC)

Elizabeth Lan Davis, Chair of the financial services law firm Murphy & McGonigle, has been selected as an honoree in the Washington Business Journal’s 2021 "Women Who Mean Business" Awards. Each year, the Washington Business Journal recognizes 25 women in the DC Metro area to receive the award.

The WBJ recognized this year’s honorees at an Awards event last evening in Washington, DC.

"I’m an Asian-American woman and a child of immigrants," Ms. Davis said in her interview with the WBJ. "It’s only recently that you’ve started to see more women of color in senior roles. Growing up, I didn’t have those female role models to aspire after."

A founding member of the firm’s Commodities, Futures & Derivatives Practice and an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the legal and financial services industries, Ms. Davis served at the U.S. Department of Justice for nine years, followed by nine years at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. She was a Chief Trial Attorney at the CFTC, before joining Murphy & McGonigle’s Washington, D.C. office as a Shareholder in 2018.

Among this year’s honorees were executives from other companies such as Amazon, Booz Allen Hamilton, Cox Communications, and Truist, as well as others.
