Elizabeth Lan Davis, a shareholder in Murphy & McGonigle’s Washington, DC office, has been selected to the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) 2020 Fellows Program. The program recognizes attorneys with distinguished leadership capacity from diverse backgrounds. LCLD is comprised of over 320 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who serve as mentors and leaders dedicated to fostering diversity.

A former Chief Trial Attorney in the Division of Enforcement at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Ms. Davis practices in the areas of Regulatory Enforcement Defense and Securities & Complex Commercial Litigation. She advises and defends clients in investigations, litigations, and other matters before various governmental and regulatory agencies. While at the CFTC, Ms. Davis was responsible for investigating and litigating potential violations of the Commodity Exchange Act and the CFTC’s Regulations and had primary responsibility over all aspects of federal court litigation.
Prior to her nine-year tenure at CFTC, Ms. Davis served as a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice for nine years in the Tax Division. At the Department of Justice, she was Counsel to the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Civil Matters.

The LCLD Fellows Program hosts conferences, legal training, executive coaching, and opportunities to network with top diverse leaders in the legal field. The Fellows, after completing the program, will join the growing network of LCLD alumni dedicated to the advancement of the next generation of diverse lawyers.
